Resurrection
An epic constructed from dreams in which Bi Gan pays homage to the art of film across six chapters, with each chapter embodying one sense, a period from Chinese (film) history and one film style. Winner of the Special Jury Prize at Cannes.

In Resurrection, humanity has given up dreaming in order to live forever. Anyone who secretly dares to dream disrupts the flow of time and must therefore be awakened. A monstrous man with a film projector hidden inside his back is one of the few who still dares to dream. The woman sent to wake him up decides, out of pity, to take a dip into his dream world. And so we are drawn into an enchanting stream of images featuring various film styles and genres: from silent film to horror, film noir and crime film.
Bi Gan’s (Long Day’s Journey Into Night) enigmatic and adventurous Resurrection is an endlessly inventive ode to the most beautiful deception in the world: the art of film. This is cinema in its purest form: a dazzling cinematic dream that manages to stimulate all the senses.
