Pour Le Plaisir
A French comedy in which Fanny tells her husband Tom that, in twenty years of marriage, she has never had an orgasm. Tom, an engineer by profession, decides to develop a device designed to revolutionise female pleasure.
Initially stunned by his wife’s confession, Thomas dives headlong into unfamiliar territory: the mysterious world of female pleasure. Fanny explores therapy, group workshops, and even a sex club, while Thomas embarks on a quest of his own, summoning all his inventive genius to take on the ultimate challenge. Together, in a clumsy yet fully committed way, they set out to invent the perfect female-centric sex toy. What begins as an awkward DIY project quickly spins into a funny, touching journey of rediscovering intimacy, tenderness, and each other. Fanny and Thomas don’t know it yet, but they are about to revolutionize the female pleasure industry forever.
There is something very endearing about Pour Le Plaisir’s aim to normalise certain conversations that are still considered taboo. This is particularly true when it comes to the silence that can prevail for decades among some couples regarding female pleasure, or the way in which some women pretend to be satisfied by their partner in order to spare his ego.
