When Mark returns to divided Berlin, he finds his wife Anna more distant than ever. She has been having an affair, but the truth behind her absence is far stranger than Mark could imagine. What begins as a marriage in crisis gradually descends into surrealistic paranoia, violence and madness.

With Possession, Andrzej Żuławski created a film that is difficult to pin down to a single genre. Relationship drama, horror and psychological nightmare constantly blend into one another, while Isabelle Adjani delivers one of the most ferocious performances in cinema history. Following the recent death of Sam Neill, this screening also offers a chance to revisit one of the many remarkable performances in his long and varied career.
