Let’s Talk About Aldo
A documentary exploring how to deal with architectural heritage. Where does respect for an original design end and the need for adaptation begin? Who actually has the right to alter inherited architecture?

In The Hague stands the extension of the Netherlands Court of Audit, the final major project completed by architects Aldo and Hannie van Eyck together. Now a new generation of architects wants to adapt the building to the demands of the present, sparking a debate about what should be preserved and what can be changed. Who decides what gives a building its value, and how much freedom should a new generation have to alter the work of those who came before?
Let’s Talk About Aldo follows the different perspectives surrounding the controversial intervention and opens up a broader discussion about architectural heritage. When does preservation become an end in itself, and when does a building need to change to remain relevant? Through one contested building, Marit Geluk explores how architecture acquires new meanings over time and how we deal with the legacy of architects who have left a lasting mark on their field.
