I Was A Teenage Sex Pistol
A raw documentary in which Glen Matlock – the original bass player of The Sex Pistols – paints a personal picture of the punk revolution and the rise of the band that sent shockwaves through Britain.

In 2026, it will be exactly fifty years since the Sex Pistols’ debut single, Anarchy In The UK, was released. A defining moment for punk as a musical and cultural movement. The Sex Pistols were loud, bold, dirty and raw, and the band sent shockwaves through an England ravaged by economic crisis and high unemployment. The story of the band’s early years is told in this documentary by original bassist Glen Matlock, revealing the significant, often surprising role he played in the band’s success. By combining personal insights with cultural reflections, the documentary captures the rebellious spirit of 1970s Britain. As a narrator, Matlock comes across as surprisingly gentle, a world away from the conventional image of the punk band. It is therefore not surprising that he soon clashed with singer Johnny Rotten and left the band after the release of their historic debut album.
