Des Preuves d’Amour (Love Letters)

Céline is looking forward to the arrival of her first child. However, she isn’t pregnant herself; her wife Nadia is due to give birth to their daughter in three months’ time. But in order to be legally recognised as a mother, Céline must adopt their child. This means she has to collect fifteen statements from family and friends confirming that she will be a good mother.

The stress is beginning to take its toll on the relationship between Céline and Nadia, with both sides blaming each other about the choice of who should become pregnant and the consequences this decision has had for both their individual lives and their careers.

Des Preuves d’Amour is a moving, yet light-hearted and humorous portrait of queer parenthood and the obstacles that come with it. The film poignantly tells the story from the perspective of the non-pregnant partner in the final stages of pregnancy.

The film had its world premiere at the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival and was subsequently screened at Film by the Sea and the Roze Filmdagen, where it was awarded the Audience Award.
