10s Across the Borders
An energetic and intimate portrait of Southeast Asia’s queer ballroom scene, where three trailblazers build community and resistance.

10s Across The Borders follows Teddy, Sun and Xyza, key figures in the underground ballroom scenes of Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. In societies where queer identities are often marginalised, they create spaces of belonging, expression and chosen family. Their personal stories of discrimination and resilience intertwine with their efforts to build a thriving community across borders.
Filmed over seven years, Sze-Wei Chan’s collaborative documentary connects the roots of ballroom culture in New York with its vibrant presence in Southeast Asia. The result is a powerful celebration of identity, creativity and resistance, brought to life through dance and performance.
