Pressure: Forecasting D-Day + Introduction
Before the screening of Pressure, Professor Georgi Verbeeck will give an introduction to the historical context of D-Day.
While films on this subject often focus on the battlefield, Pressure concentrates on the intensely stressful 72 hours leading up to D-Day. Against a backdrop of mounting tension, the film shows how a single weather forecast proved decisive for the outcome of Operation Overlord and, consequently, for the course of the Second World War.
Before the screening, Professor Georgi Verbeeck will provide an introduction (in Dutch) to the historical context of D-Day. He will highlight the strategic importance of Operation Overlord, the political and military situation on the eve of the invasion, and the far-reaching consequences this event had for the subsequent course of the war.

Prof. Georgi Verbeeck is Professor of German History at KU Leuven and Associate Professor of Modern History and Political Culture at Maastricht University.
