Film & Talk: How Deep Is Your Love
Would it be better to remain ignorant about certain things rather than put them at risk through our knowledge? Following this visually stunning documentary about the depths of the ocean, we will be joined by an expert for a post-screening discussion.

In collaboration with Studium Generale Maastricht, we are screening How Deep Is Your Love, a visually stunning documentary about the mysterious world of the deep sea and the scientists exploring this largely unknown environment. In the Clarion-Clipperton Zone in the Pacific Ocean, marine biologists search for new forms of life, while the seafloor is simultaneously under threat from deep-sea mining.
The film will be introduced by future-oriented ecologist Marjolein Pijnappels. She will explore (marine) ecology and technology, as well as the role of deep-sea ecosystems for humankind. She will also offer valuable insights to help viewers approach the film from an ecocentric perspective.
