Mark Cousins (THE STORY OF FILM) delivers a staggering alternate history of cinema, taking inspiration from groundbreaking film scholars such as Cari Beauchamp, Claire Johntson, and Lynda Miles. Cousins discusses the toolbox of cinema (such as close-ups, framing and mise-en-scene) through the work of filmmakers such as Jane Campion, Kira Muratova, Agnès Varda, Larisa Shepitko, Claire Denis, Samira Makhmalbaf, Kathryn Bigelow , Sofia Coppola, Céline Sciamma and many others. His long-time collaborator Tilda Swinton serves as executive producer.
