The Truman Show (25th Anniversary)

Twenty-five years old already, but this film about a man unaware that his entire life is being filmed with hidden cameras – remains a brilliant satire on reality TV.

Time & Tickets

Comedian Jim Carrey was never better than in the role of Truman Burbank, a rather insignificant insurance agent whose life is filmed 24 hours a day, without his knowledge. Millions of viewers follow his ups and downs on a daily basis. Even before he was born, Truman was adopted by a television company, and his entire life takes place in the friendly fake town of Seahaven. The nice local residents are hired extras who play along with the game. Life seems to rippling along quietly in Seahaven, but that changes when Truman slowly begins to realise that his life is a farce, and starts to investigate.

THE TRUMAN SHOW is a modern Hollywood classic, a very entertaining film that also raises numerous philosophical questions. To what extent do you form your own identity? Why do people feel the need to be seen? What influence do the media have on our lives? Are you actually a prisoner if you don’t know you are living in a prison?
