Film concert: The Red Turtle + short film Mijmert | Sold out

Through the story of a man shipwrecked on a tropical island inhabited by turtles, crabs and birds, the wordless animation film THE RED TURTLE recounts the milestones in the life of a human being. A live score will be performed by Bert Lochs' SILENT LIVE ensemble.

Time & Tickets

The passage of time, the power and indifference of nature and the tenets of survival are beautifully incorporated into this moving animated fable directed by Michael Dudok de Wit, winner of an Academy Award for his short animation film FATHER AND DAUGHTER (2000).

THE RED TURTLE is his first feature film and also marks the first international coproduction for Japanese animation studio Ghibli. The resulting film is unmistakably the work of Dudok de Wit, whose hand-drawn, charcoal textures remain, as does the choice of telling an allegory without using a word of dialogue. Winner of the Un Certain Regard Special Prize at the Festival de Cannes.
