Raphael Revealed
A fresh look at the life and work of one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance.
To mark the five hundredth anniversary of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino’s death, a major retrospective of his work was held in Rome. More than one hundred works by Raphael were brought together in this exhibition, including unprecedented loans from the Louvre, the Uffizi, the National Gallery of Art and the Prado Museum. For this documentary, Phil Grabsky was granted exclusive access to the exhibition. The film offers a unique opportunity to discover the versatility of Raphael. Raphael was more than just a painter. He was one of the most extraordinary artists of the Renaissance but is often misunderstood or mythologised. The documentary looks at Raphael’s life in Rome and includes rare footage of Nero’s Golden House.
