At the age of seventeen, Mary, daughter of feminist writer Mary Wollstonecraft, falls for the charming poet Percy Shelley. Their passionate affair shocks their environment and they decide to walk away together.

As a guest in Switzerland, Lord Byron challenges his guests to write a ghost story. It is here where Mary creates one of the most iconic characters of all time, Frankenstein. The society of 1818, however, refused to recognize a woman as a writer of a literary masterpiece, which left Mary no choice but to defy the prejudices of society to defend her creation and her own identity.
