Maestro
Biographical drama by and starring Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born) about the life of composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. The film focuses on the relationship between Bernstein and his wife Felicia, played by Carey Mulligan. Nominated for seven Academy Awards, amongst others for Best Motion Picture.
One of the towering figures of twentieth century American arts and culture, Bernstein was a gifted artist. Bradley Cooper celebrates this alongside Bernstein’s complexity as an individual. The composer of WEST SIDE STORY, winner of countless accolades and the first American conductor to receive international acclaim, Bernstein was a titan of the classical world. Cooper’s film encompasses his life through the prism of his thirty-year marriage to Chilean-American actor Felicia Montealegre, and his many escapades with younger men. Spanning the decades following the end of the Second World War, the film skilfully weaves the couple’s story into the fabric of American cultural and political life. Made with the cooperation of the couple’s three children, MAESTRO is a glorious symphony of life and art. (source: British Film Institute)
