The British press ran out of superlatives to describe this brand new production of one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies. Everyone knows the story: the ambitious Scottish general Macbeth, encouraged by his ruthless wife, uses murder and deceit to conquer the throne of Scotland. Paranoia, guilt and the inevitable downfall follow.
Ralph Fiennes – known from films like SCHINDLER'S LIST and THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, but also a gifted theatre actor – and Indira Varma – known from the television series GAME OF THRONES and LUTHER – portray Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. This cinema version was recorded live at Dock X, a London warehouse converted into a theatre. The play was performed over a hundred times in Liverpool, Edinburgh and London and attracted more than 100,000 theatregoers.
