The childless couple María and Ingvar live on a beautiful but remote farm with their herd of sheep. One day, they discover a mysterious new-born on their farmland. They decide to keep it and raise it as their own. But soon they will face the consequences of defying the will of nature.
This dark and atmospheric folktale is the remarkable debut feature from director Valdimar Jóhannsson. Winner of the Un Certain Regard prize of originality during the Cannes Film Festival.
