Hors-Saison - English subtitled
Existential romantic drama starring Guillaume Canet and Alba Rohrwacher as two bruised souls who meet by chance in a Breton spa. Once they were in love but chose their own path. Will love get a second chance?
Mathieu lives in Paris, Alice in a small seaside resort in Western France. He is a famous actor, about to turn fifty. She is a piano teacher in her forties. They were in love fifteen years ago, then separated. Time has passed. They each went their ways and slowly healed. When Mathieu tries to overcome his melancholia in a thermal spa, he stumbles upon Alice.
Director Stéphane Brizé made several critically acclaimed films (EN GUERRE, LA LOI DU MARCHÉ, UN AUTRE MONDE) about corporate greed and the exploitation of workers. The experience of isolation during the Covid crisis made him reflect on the precarity of our existence. For HORS-SAISON, the director wanted to linger on that moment when we ruminate on choices never made, or made badly, encounters we missed or misused, doors we never opened, meetings we missed, moments in life when we decided to take one road instead of another.
