Foxtrot - English subtitled

The reported death of an upper-class Israeli couple’s soldier son sparks a series of tragicomically absurd events, in the new film from Samuel Maoz (Lebanon).

Time & Tickets

Michael and Dafna are devastated when army officials show up at their home to announce the death of their son Jonathan. Michael becomes increasingly frustrated by overzealous mourning relatives and well-meaning army bureaucrats. While his sedated wife rests, Michael spirals into a whirlwind of anger only to experience one of life’s unfathomable twists which rival the surreal military experiences of his son. Moving from the grieving parents’ apartment to the remote military post where Jonathan was stationed, FOXTROT shows us precisely how much damage can ensue when young soldiers, barely able to tell their toe from a trigger, experience boredom, privation, and loneliness.

Samuel Maoz, Israël, Switzerland, Germany, France, 2017, 114 min. Hebrew, Arabic & German spoken, English subtitles. With Lior Ashkenazi, Sarah Adler, Yonaton Shiray, Shira Haas.
