On the eve of his 70th birthday, Almodóvar looks back on his life, with Antonio Banderas as his alter ego and Penélope Cruz as his mother.
Salvador Mallo, an ageing film director, is struggling with all kinds of physical and mental problem. The request of the film museum to attend a public screening of a restored version of his classic film SABOR becomes the catalyst for a series of reencounters. Some of them in the flesh, others remembered. His childhood in the 1960s, his first adult love in Madrid in the 1980s and the pain of the breakup. The early discovery of cinema and the infinite void that creates the incapacity to keep on making films. In recovering his past, Salvador finds the urgent need to recount it and, in that need, he also finds his salvation. Winner of the Prize for Best Actor (Antonio Banderas) at the Festival de Cannes.

Pedro Almodovar, 2019, 113 min. Spanish spoken, Dutch subtitles. With Antonio Banderas, Penélope Cruz, Julieta Serrano, Leonardo Sbaraglia.
