De Dans van Natasja
The lives of Daantje and embittered ex-ballerina Natasja become intertwined in this melancholic fairy-tale about farewell, loneliness and friendship.
Homeless Daantje meets older ex-ballerina Natasha, who initially wants nothing to do with him. But fate and their social isolation seemingly condemn them to each other. When Natasha decides to return to the place of her childhood – her grandma’s dacha far from the civilised world – Daantje wants to join her. They jointly embark on the long physical and spiritual journey to the place of her youth, the place where she used to be happy. On the road, they lose all their belongings, and eventually also their way.
Jos Stelling (DE WISSELWACHTER, DE VLIEGENDE HOLLANDER) made his debut in 1974 with MARIKEN VAN NIEUMEGHEN, with which he was selected for the competition of the Cannes Film Festival. Besides being a filmmaker, he is also the founder and owner of several arthouse cinemas in Utrecht. In 1981, he took the initiative for the Nederlandse Filmdagen, an event now known as the Nederlands Film Festival.
