Filmed in Paris, COUP DE CHANCE – Woody Allen's first non-English-language film – is about the important role chance and luck play in our lives. Fanny and Jean look like the ideal couple. They are successful in their careers, live in a beautiful flat in an expensive area of Paris and they seem as much in love as they were in the early days of their relationship. But when Fanny accidentally runs into Alain, a classmate from high school, she instantly falls in love. Alain and Fanny soon meet again but are unaware that Jean has hired a private detective to shadow his wife.

Woody Allen’s new film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Outside the cinema, people were protesting the presence of Allen, who was accused of sexual abuse by his adopted daughter in 1992. In the cinema, however, there was polite applause. Allen may never again make another masterpiece like MANHATTAN or ANNIE HALL, but COUP DE CHANCE turned out to be a solid Woody Allen, in which the New York filmmaker once again shares with us his signature reflections on life, death and love.
